Mecca Allah, a Philadelphia native, began her dance training at Philadelphia Dance Theater where she trained under the direction of Joy Capponi. In 2012, she graduated from The High School for the Creative
and Performing Arts in Philadelphia. While at the High school for performing Arts she also danced with Philadanco’s second company (D2.) She has trained in programs at Dance Theatre of Harlem, Eleone
dance theatre, Philadanco, and Ballet Hispanico. She recently graduated from the certificate program at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
Mecca has had the opportunity to rehearse, train and perform under people such as Ana Marie Forsythe, Milton Myers, Elizabeth Roxas, Matthew Rushing, and Renee Robinson. She has performed works in
Alvin Ailey’s repertoire such as “I’ve been buked” and “Didn’t my lord deliver Daniel” as well as lead roles in “Escapades” and “The lark Ascending.” She has also performed works by Ray Mercer, Amy Hall,
Darshan Singh Bhuller, Justin Prescott, Hollie Wright, and Levi Marsman.
Mecca is currently freelance dancing, training in fitness and has also taken on a modeling career.
In addition to all of that Mecca has a great passion for teaching dance and movement to youth and this will be her second year with WMAAC Residencies!
